Mastered- Hair with Sam McKnight – Brief 1 – Ungaro Catwalk

I just finished my first brief with Mastered – Hair.

We were given a moodboard which has early 60s inspiration, Royality, Sex and Bondage. We had to do a Catwalk hair which could be done within 10-15 mins, would be appealing to the public and make an impression to create a new hairstyle for women at home. This is my vision:

My Vision of FINAL BREAKDOWN for
Brief 1 – E. Ungaro:
My character is a Baronesse who has a private sexual side. I did not want her hair to be perfect. I wanted it to be a bit disheveled because she always has to be perfect. Her wild side, “beautiful and aristocratic” but “not perfect”.  She is always watched by everyone, so, in private – she needs to feel free and a wild.

Final Image 1-  Hair Down/ Teased Crown
Set the top with velcro rollers
Curled the top with an iron
The nape area was pin curled then I laced a flat iron over the pincurls to set.
I let it down and used my hands to set the curls free.
I lightly teased the crown so It gave it the appearance she has been out for a while.

Final Images 2 –
Hair placed back with Heavy Teasing, Metal wire to emulate a crown of sorts, with curls falling on shoulders
Set the top with velcro rollers
Curled the top with an iron
The nape area was pin curled then I laced a flat iron over the pincurls to set.
I let it down and used my hands to set the curls free.
I heavily teased the crown, so It gave it the appearance she has been out for a while.
Pulled back the hair from the frontal hairline and pinned in the back.
I designed metal “finger wave clips” to place in the back of the head.
I wanted the teasing flat in the back to give the essence she has been laying on her back….

Make Up Palette:
In the moodboard for the brief,  greys, pinks, and deep blues came to my mind. I finally decided with the grey and deep blue scale. It reminded me of metal and strength, but calming and wild.

Product Line : Joico
I used the Thermal Setting spray for the rollers. pin curls, & iron
I used the Shaping Spray to set the hair in place. For finishing, lightly sprayed the Finishing Spray. Alway try to not touch the hair with your hands after the products goes in, Use a rattail comb instead.

At Home Woman:
Any woman can accomplish this with practice. There are many ways someone at home could do this themselves  They can use Hot rollers, Wet rollers, Curling iron. They would have to make a C section at the top front of the head, place the roller/curl in a sliced pie shape. Crown area overdirect the roller to add height, For sides  and remaining parts of the head, roll the rollers vertically towards the back of the head. Alway try to not touch the hair with your hands after the products goes in, Use a rattail comb instead. Tool to use when teasing: a rat tail or a teasing combs women can buy at a local beauty supply store.
